Public Beaches!

Nags Head North Carolina gets its name from the time when pirates roamed the Outer Banks.  It is said that they would tie lanterns to small horses and walk them along the beach at might to lure ships into shore.  This town is known for its old-style beach cottages and the famous Jockeys Ridge State Park, home to the largest sand dune on the east coast! Nags Head has many breath-taking views of the Ocean that can be seen from the Nags Head Fishing Pier which is a true fishing pier.  One of the local's favorite spots is a walking path located in Nags Head Woods Preserve (which is actually part of Kill Devil Hills right off of Ocean Acres). On this path you will witness amazing views of salt marshes, unique birds, plants and possibly spot a few deer before ending up at a quiet little sand beach sitting right off the sound. This is the perfect spot to snap a photo and enjoy a light picnic.
